Pages & Platters

Welcome to Pages & Platters!

Are you a cookbook enthusiast? A culinary connoisseur? Do you enjoy communing with others around food? Join us to share your cooking experiences, exchange tips, and savor a diverse array of dishes! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow community members and bond over a shared love for food! We look forward to exploring a variety of cuisines in the coming months. This program is open to all.

Please note that while we request that participants supply ingredient lists, the library cannot guarantee the ingredients or preparation of any dish served at this program. Food may contain or come into contact with common allergens.

How It Works

Each month we’ll pick a cookbook, most often from the New Books collection. We’ll display it on the bookcase behind the Information Desk. You can make free photocopies of the recipe or recipes you’re interested in, scan and email them to yourself, or take pictures with your phone. Register in advance by emailing Megan Coleman at megan.coleman@thehowe.org. See our events calendar for this month’s book.

Guidelines:
  • On the first Thursday of the month from 6:00-7:00 pm, we’ll gather in the Mayer Room to share what we have prepared.
  • Please bring your own serving dish, serving utensils, and, if your serving dish is hot, a trivet.
  • We will provide paper plates, bowls, and cups, and also flatware.
  • Please provide a complete ingredient list. This can be a photocopy of the recipe, with any changes written in. Be mindful that there may be attendees with food allergies or dietary preferences.
  • Alcohol is not allowed on library premises, so alas we will have to leave any cocktail recipes unsampled.

Please reach out with any questions!
