Volunteers contribute a wonderful gift of time to the Howe Library.

We are very pleased to note that each year for the past several years, volunteers have tallied over 3,000 hours at Howe Library. This impressive number reflects only what is done in the library and does not include the many uncounted hours spent by the members of various committees and the trustees. The Centennial, Building, and Development Committees are cases in point.

Volunteers help us to provide the best possible library service. Most library work tends to be very exacting and detail oriented, but the demands of our volunteer positions vary widely. For some jobs, such as Circulation Desk Aide, the staff offers its volunteers extensive training before scheduling them to work independently. For these positions we require a high level of commitment and responsibility. Other duties may be performed on an occasional, drop-in basis. Even the smallest tasks are important and contribute to the smooth running of the library.

If you are interested in volunteering, review the list of volunteer opportunities. Although some jobs may be filled already, there may be more than one of interest to you. Telephone (643-4120) or email Howe Library (howe.library@thehowe.org) for more information.
