The Howel Classic
a mini-golf extravaganza
19th Hole Party:
$50 per person
Saturday, March 21 7:00pm - 10:00pm
The 18-hole course will be open with tasty hors d’oeuvres, wine, and beer being served. Jazz band Jean Brown & Company will provide the entertainment. New this year... a pajama party for kids ages 5-12! Adults attending Saturday night can purchase a child's ticket so the kids can enjoy a night out too. ($15/child) (This event is held in a separate area from the golf.) All attendees will be entered for a chance to win a pair of round-trip tickets on Cape Air, a $100 gift certificate to Carpenter & Main Restaurant or Candela Tapas Lounge, or a beautiful centerpiece from Simon Pearce!

THE HOWE LITTLE FREE LIBRARY IS HERE
Take a book, leave a book! The new Howe Little Free Library was installed outside Town Hall on Monday, August 11. Later this year, we'll be launching another Little Free Library near the Hop. Anyone may take a book from the Little Free Library - you don't have to be a Howe cardholder. If you have a book in good condition that you'd like to share, you may leave it for someone else to enjoy.A NEW MUSEUM TO VISIT!
The generous folks at The Fort at No. 4
have given us a free pass for the summer. Cardholders at Howe Library can borrow the pass
for free admission (2 adults and accompanying children) to this open air museum in Charlestown, NH.
If history's not your thing, borrow one of the other eleven passes available.
ANNOUNCING THE "EXPAND YOUR WORLD" COLLECTION!
Howe Library is pleased to announce the "Expand Your World" collection, encompassing a wide variety of items beyo
nd books that are available for checkout.
For some time, we have offered museum passes, art prints, a telescope, and Kill-A-Watt energy meters to library cardholders. Now, thanks to the generous support of The Howe Library Corporation, the library is adding some new items:
- two ukuleles
- a birding kit, including binoculars and an electronic bird call identifier
- a VHS-to-digital conversion kit including cables and Elgato conversion software
- a vinyl-to-digital conversion kit including a USB turntable and Audacity conversion software
These new items will be available for checkout in early May.

HOWE LIBRARY RECEIVES INNOVATION AWARD
We are thrilled to announce that Howe Library, in partnership with the Norwich Public Library, has been selected for the 2013 Business Innovator of the Year Award given by the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce in recognition of the libraries' ingenuity and creativity in enhancing the vitality of the community. A special celebration will be held on Tuesday, November 12 with cocktails from 5:00 to 6:15pm at the Top of the Hop (Hopkins Center for the Arts) and dinner from 6:30 to 9:00pm at Alumni Hall (Hopkins Center for the Arts).
This award acknowledges everyone's love and support for the Howe, Hanover and other Upper Valley residents, our many volunteers and generous donors, the dedicated board of trustees, and our top-notch staff. This truly is your award and we are very grateful for your help in making the Howe such a vibrant community center.

You can get a telescope from the library! Ask at the Circulation Desk and check the telescope out for two weeks, with no renewals. We are appreciative of the New Hampshire Astronomical Society's efforts in providing us with the telescope and arranging for its maintenance.Our purchase of the telescope from the NHAS was made possible by funding provided by The Sunup Foundation in memory of long-time Howe volunteer Joy Lange Boardman.
