Thank you for your interest in the 38th Annual Elden Murray Photographic Exhibition and Competition at Howe Library!

The Elden Murray Photographic Exhibition and Competition is an annual competition that provides Upper Valley amateur photographers with an opportunity to display their work to the public. The exhibition is sponsored by Howe Library with a grant from the Elden Murray Foundation and coordinated by the Quechee Area Camera Club.

Please note that we have moved the competition date back by one month.
The 2014 Murray Exhibition will be on display in the Ledyard Gallery from Saturday, February 1 through Wednesday, February 26, with a reception on February 2 from 2-4 p.m.

If you are interested in submitting your work to this year's show, please read the following rules and other information carefully.

  5. Experimental, abstract, non-representational.

Contest Rules
  1. All entrants must be amateur (i.e., non-professional) photographers. "Amateur" is defined for these purposes by the photographer, but the final decision will be made by the Elden Murray administration. Please understand we are working hard for amateurs to be able to compete against other amateurs.
  2. All work must be by the artist. Specifically, the exposure which forms the basis of the print must have been made, but need not have been printed, by the artist.
  3. Further manipulations of the print, if any, must have been made by the artist.
  4. A maximum of three works will be accepted from each person. Each entrant may submit photographs in any category.  The Committee reserves the right to re-categorize photographs.
  5. Each photograph must have a title on the entry form.
  6. The minimum print size including matte is 5"x7" and the maximum is 16"x20". One print per matte.
  7. All work must be matted -  neatly mounted on a standard or foam core mount board. No framed work will be accepted. See the back of this brochure for more information on matting.
  8. Only the title can appear on the front (but the title does not have to be on the front). An entry form with the artist's name and contact information, the category of the entry, and the title must be attached to the back of each photograph. There must be nothing on either side of the photo which can damage other photos.
  9. All photographs which have not previously received Elden Murray honors are acceptable. Immediate family members of judges are welcome to exhibit their photographs but will not be included in the photographs to be judged for awards.
  10. For more information, contact the contest administrator at eldenmurrayphoto@gmail.com or Heather Backman at heather.backman@thehowe.org.
