Teen Workshop: Global Art Project for PeaceWednesday, March 10, 2010
Teens in grade 6 and older - join artist Margaret Sheehan for a special art project for peace. by Jen Nash, Middle School Student, Lido Beach, NY 2008
The Global Art Project is an International Art Exchange for Peace. In this workshop, participants will use coat hangers, tissue paper and assorted collage materials to make their own panel expressing their vision of peace they wish to see in the world.
Artist Margaret Sheehan, will guide the project and incorporate each students panel into a final larger group sculpture. After being displayed in the Howe Library, it will become part of the greater global art exchange, a week of "Peace" art being mailed to different locations at the same time around the world!
No experience necessary, just a wish to create art for peace! Free workshop for teens in grade 6 and older.
We will also add to the "Let's All Join Hands" project . A tracing of the hand, decorated and expressing thoughts about peace, will be cut out and mailed separately to the Global Art project. Traced and decorated hands, joined with thousands of other hands, will be a tangible representation of the people around the world who join their energy together to create a peaceful future. Learn more about the Global Art Project for Peace at their web site.
Date: March 10, 2010 Time: 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm Location: Mayer Room
